Now that we've added another member to the Moulton family, I'm going to attempt to do this whole blogging thing again....Oliver Charles Moulton arrived on January 5th at 4:10am. He was 2 1/2 weeks early, so it was a bit of a surprise! I went to the doctor for a check up that day and we joked about how I was in the very exam room the day I had Elliot. The doc told me he would be on call that night, but if I could wait to have a baby until 9:00 he would greatly appreciate it. We laughed and he said see you next week. I came home from my appointment, tutored, had dinner, and then Andrew and I decided to go to the mall to return some Christmas presents. While at the mall I started having contractions, but didn't think much of it. Then on the way home I started timing my contractions, 3 minutes apart. We got home, put Elliot to bed, and I sat down to watch a show. We called Megan to make sure she was home just in case, but told her not to worry about coming over yet. Boy did things change in a matter of minutes! Andrew started filling the bath for me to see if I could slow my contractions down. By the time the tub was filled, I told Andrew we needed to leave NOW. We changed plans....called my mom (who just moved and luckily only lives 5 minutes away now), left the front door open, and were on our way. Thinking back I can't believe we were okay with just leaving Elliot asleep in the house alone, but I guess all rational thinking is out the door when you are in labor. Andrew drove like a mad man to the hospital (he was disappointed he didn't get to do this with Elliot so he loved every second of it!). After running multiple red lights, and speeding the whole way, we arrived at the hospital around 10:00pm. They checked us in, and put me in the triage room where I "gracefully" puked in every garbage can in the room....the joys of having really low blood pressure. It is at this point I started demanding an epidural. With Elliot they put the epidural in, but never turned it on and I was determined not to have that happen again. The nurse told me I would have to wait until they got enough fluid in me because of my blood pressure. I "kindly" replied that that was just not going to work for me. Next thing I knew the anesthesiologist was in my room....it must have been my "kind" words. I had found out that day that I was positive for Strep B, so I would need to wait until the golden hour of 3:15am to have this baby. They gave me a SUPER strong epidural to slow my labor down. Bless that man with the long needle and lack of personality. At 3:15 they came in to break my water, and Oliver arrived at 4:10am. Everything went well until I heard the doctor say, "Oh crap" when delivering my placenta. Long story short, the cord broke which means the placenta was playing hide and seek inside of me....I'll stop there. I'm just really grateful for that super strong epidural!

Congratulations! Is Elliot still as happy to have a little brother now that he realizes he is sticking around? I'm glad that Andrew got to live his crazy maniac driver dream and that you got to enjoy your epidural and delivery. What a cute family you have!
Congrats Emily!
Congratulations! We are super happy for you!
Thanks for sharing the events of Oliver's birth. He looks like he was worth it and is a keeper. Enjoy your time off with your boys!
