Bike on Top of Car+Garage=Bad News
I'm hoping that this Saturday brings me better luck than last Saturday. You see, I spent the morning coaching the YW basketball team from my ward. If you don't know about YW basketball, I'll tell you about it sometime. On my way home I saw a garage sale sign and of course I had to stop. As I pulled up I saw an old school road bike for $5. I jumped out of my car and bought it immediately. I was sure I was going to win the "best wife" award. My husband loves old school road bikes, and he loves a good deal. I called Andrew to share the good news and he was really excited. I told him I'd meet him at home. A minute or so later I got a call from Andrew reminding me to NOT drive in the garage with the bike on top of my car. I assured him I wouldn't forget. While driving home I was pondering what I was going to have for lunch (I think about food often) and I just happened to forget the bike was on top of my car. I pulled into the garage (a little too fast according to Andrew) and the next thing I knew I heard a loud crash and saw dust settling on my windshield. I sat in my car and said out loud, "Andrew is going to kill me". I quickly realized that I was sitting in my car and my neighbors were going to come out to see what all the noise was. Embarrassed, I ran into the house to hide. As I came in the door I noticed there was a note posted on our door from the Home Owners Association. It was a warning that they were going to charge us $300 for hanging a sign on our front porch. Heaven for bid that we would want to put a cute tile with our name and address on the outside of our home that we pay a ridiculous amount of money for! Anyways. A few minutes later I decided to go outside and assess the damage. Not only did I fold the garage door in half, but I tore the rack right off the top of my car, bent the bike, tore some siding off of the building, and scratched the entire top of my car. All I could do was laugh! Luckily I have a very handy husband. Although it is not perfect, our garage door actually closes now. What a day....
